The Best Places for Hiking in the US
One of the things that I love to do when I’m on vacation is hike. There’s no better way to appreciate natural landscape than hiking, but with so many places to explore in the US it can be hard to find the best place for hiking. Heck, even if you live in the USFrom California to the northern states, there are so many beautiful places in the USA to hike and explore. As a person who has spent time exploring, with others and alone, I can easily say that it is hard to just pick one or two spots I enjoy the most. While this is not a list of my “favorite” hiking destinations, I have tried to find the best places to hike in the US. These are some locations that have a combination of interesting hikes, unique landscapes and accessibility that makes them prime spots for an enjoyable day out on the trails. it can be hard to find out where to go hiking.
The Rocky Mountains
If you’re looking for the best places for hiking in the US, look no further than the Rocky Mountains. The Rockies are home to some of the most beautiful national parks in the country—and they’re also home to some of the most breathtaking trails. If you’ve got a few days to spare, there’s no better way to see it all than by hiking one of these trails.
Our favorite trails in the Rockies (in no particular order) are:
1. Mount Bierstadt: Located near Denver, Colorado and Aspen, this hike is about 13 miles long with an elevation gain of 3,745 feet. It’s considered one of Colorado’s easiest 14ers—but don’t let that fool you! It’s still a serious climb!
2. Mount Evans: This hike takes about 5-6 hours and covers 9 miles with an elevation gain of 4,300 feet (and some serious switchbacks). The payoff? Spectacular views from above Denver—including Pikes Peak and Longs Peak—as well as access to an observatory with telescopes that can show you even more views!
The White Mountains
The White Mountains in New Hampshire are one of the best places for hiking in the United States. They contain over 250 miles of trails and offer an array of different hikes, from easy day hikes to challenging multi-day treks. The White Mountains stretch across southern New Hampshire and northern Vermont, and include Mount Washington, the highest peak in New Hampshire at 6288 feet above sea level. The range is known for its spectacular views, which can be seen from almost any point along any trail within it. The most popular hiking area in the Whites is Crawford Notch State Park, which features a wide variety of trails ranging from easy to difficult as well as camping areas where you can stay overnight if you want to make your hike longer than one day.
